Nucleic Acid Chemistry Laboratory | Biofunctional Chemistry, Nucleic Acid Medicine, Chemistry of DNA metal complex |
Using skills in nucleic acids chemistry, cyclodextrin chemistry and synthetic chemistry, we are developing new materials and technologies to contribute in life and material sciences. |
|
Cosmetics & Nano-design Laboratory | Colloid and interface chemistry, Cosmetic science |
Our research focuses on interfacial phenomena and self-assembling related to emulsification, solubilization and dispersion, which can be the basis for cosmetic formulations. We often utilize various physicochemical methods such as rheology, spectrometry, calorimetry, etc. to evidence the mechanisms and functions of these phenomena. In particular, we have been challenging microgravity experiments for several years and exploring new findings in non-equilibrium colloidal dispersion systems such as emulsion. Besides such physicochemical topics, we also undertake dermatological researches on transdermal absorption and skin effectiveness of cosmetics (or ingredient). |

Food and Beauty Sciences Laboratory | Food science, Biochemistry, Dermatology |
In recent years, much progress has been made in research on human resident microbiota. The entire picture of resident microbiota is being clarified not only with respect to the types and proportions of bacteria that constitute the microbiota but also the crosstalk between bacteria. As resident microbiota is deeply involved in human health, disruption of their balance and loss of diversity (dysbiosis) cause poor health and disease. We aim to improve physical and skin conditions based on regulation of the resident microbiota via food function. |

Plant Breeding and Genetics Laboratory | Plant Breeding, Plant genetics, Biosciences Education |
By analyzing the DNA of various organisms, we can decipher the history of evolution (or selective breeding) of each organism. This also allows us to understand the diversity of these organisms. In particular, we are analyzing the diversity of crop varieties at the DNA level and developing DNA markers in order to obtain new knowledge that can contribute to selective crop breeding. We are also working on developing experimental programs that contribute to the education of molecular biology content. |
